Foreign Minister Denies Reports of Prabowo’s canceled Israel Visit Due to Leaked Agenda
Jakarta – Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono denied Israeli media reports claiming President Prabowo Subianto had planned a visit to Israel, but it was canceled because the agenda was leaked to the public. Sugiono emphasized that Prabowo never had plans to visit Israel.
“There was no anger (as the visit plans were leaked), because yesterday we were all focused on the signing event (the Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt) which actually took quite a long time, from 2 o’clock the event only took place around 6 pm or 7 o’clock,” said Sugiono after accompanying Prabowo upon his arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, jakarta, Tuesday (2025/10/14).
The Times of Israel reported that Prabowo’s visit to Israel was scheduled to take place in November. The report also stated that the visit was canceled due to the agenda being leaked, causing a backlash. sugiono clarified that this facts is inaccurate.
“From the begining, there were no plans for a visit to Israel. The President’s focus was on the Gaza Peace Summit,” he stated. He added that the Indonesian government is committed to finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Gaza.
Sugiono further explained that Prabowo’s schedule was entirely dedicated to the Egypt summit. The extended duration of the summit meant there was simply no prospect for any other engagements.
