Hollyoaks Star’s Family Climb Mount Etna in Mum’s Memory & Raise Funds for Domestic Violence Charity
The children of Brit expats Dawn and Andrew searle, who died in a suspected murder-suicide in France, are honouring their mother’s memory with a challenging climb and a fundraising campaign for domestic violence charity Women’s Aid.
Financial crime buster Andrew, 62, and wife Dawn, 56, were found dead at their remote home in Les Pesquiès, north of Toulouse, in February. While police initially investigated potential links to Andrew’s former profession, the tragedy is now being treated as a murder-suicide.Callum Searle, known for his role as PC George Kiss in the Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, and his sister have “firmly” requested that their mother not be associated with a service honouring andrew, stating it would be “inappropriate” given the available evidence. They will climb Sicily’s Mount Etna on May 18 next year – what would have been Dawn’s 58th birthday – as a tribute.A GoFundMe page established in Dawn Kerr’s name has already raised over £3,400 for Women’s Aid. The page reads: “In February, our mum was taken from us. But we’re hoping this challenge brings some good into the world in her name. We want to create something that reflects who she truly was, and to change what comes up when people search her name. This is for Dawn Kerr. Always.”
The siblings also urged Dawn’s friends not to attend Andrew’s service or post pictures of the couple together. They maintain there is “no evidence whatsoever of any third party’s involvement” in the tragedy.
