Rodrigo Cortés and Tomás Son Present “The Soft Stone”
Two unique creators, writer and filmmaker Rodrigo cortés, and illustrator and recorder Tomás Son, appeared at the Ibercaja Foundation’s Books on Tuesday to present an unusual work: The Soft Stone.
This book, defined by its authors as a graphic fable, is not a novel in the traditional sense, nor a simple illustrated book. It is indeed a narrative and visual artifact where word and engraving intertwine to give life to a dreamlike universe,full of symbols and fantastic creatures.
In this conversation, Rodrigo Cortés and tomás son invite readers to discover Pedro de little, a character who is a monk and thief, holy and beggar-someone who lives in a world of everyday miracles and ancient mysteries. This entirely carved novel, a daughter of the picaresque tradition, is also a tribute to the origin of all books, the mystery, and the fascination of the forest trees.
