Ministry of Public Works to Hand Over IKN Construction to Authority
jakarta,CNN Indonesia – The Ministry of Public Works (PU) will no longer be directly involved in the construction of the archipelago capital city (IKN) starting next year.
All construction work will be transferred to the IKN Authority (OIKN), which is now officially operational.
Deputy Minister of Public works Diana Kusumastuti stated that the ministry will only finish multi-year contracts (MYC) that began in 2022.

“We will complete the existing MYC contracts. After that, everything is the authority of OIKN,” Diana explained on thursday (11/9). She added that the Ministry of Public Works will continue to provide support to OIKN if needed.
The transfer of authority is part of the government’s plan to accelerate the growth of IKN. With OIKN taking the lead, the construction process is expected to be more efficient and streamlined.
The IKN Authority has been granted significant autonomy to manage the construction and development of the new capital city. This includes the authority to issue permits, manage land use, and attract investment.
The construction of IKN is a massive undertaking, and the government is committed to ensuring its success. The new capital city is intended to be a modern, lasting, and smart city that will serve as a symbol of Indonesia’s progress.
