Large Disruption: 911 Emergency Calls Unavailable in South Dakota, Nebraska, Texas, and Nevada
At approximately 7:30 p.m., the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department posted on social media about a disruption in 911 calls from landline and mobile phones. Despite this issue, dispatchers were able to identify failed attempts and would reach out to those callers. Fortunately, text messages sent to 911 were still being received and managed. The department also mentioned that the problem extended to their non-emergency line, making it difficult for residents to report any incidents.
Las Vegas
Currently, it is still uncertain when the services will be completely reinstated. Officials are actively working towards resolving the problem and ensuring the protection and welfare of residents in the impacted regions.
Southern Nevada
The Department of Public Safety in South Dakota used social media to notify residents that the outage had affected the entire state. Even though there was a disruption in emergency call services, residents could still reach 911 through text messaging. Furthermore, the local police and county sheriffs’ offices were accessible through their nonemergency phone lines to help residents.
Nebraska and Texas
Several police departments in Nebraska have notified of disruptions in their designated regions. These include Dundy County, Kearney County, Howard County, and Fremont. Del Rio, Texas has also reported a service outage for their emergency call services.
South Dakota
A massive outage in areas of South Dakota, Nebraska, Texas, and Nevada has hindered residents from being able to contact 911 for emergency services. Officials have verified that the disruption has affected regions including Las Vegas and southern Nevada, select parts of Nebraska and Texas, and the entirety of South Dakota.
The outage did not only impact Las Vegas, but also affected southern Nevada. This worsened the situation for residents in the area, as confirmed by the Nevada State Police.
