JOMBANG, Indonesia – Health officials in Jombang Regency reported 280 new cases of HIV/AIDS in 2025. While this figure represents a decrease from previous years, the Jombang Regency Health Service (Dinkes) emphasizes that the risk of HIV transmission remains a meaningful public health concern.

Dr. Hexawan tjahja Widada, Head of the Jombang Regency Health Office, clarified that the number of detected cases is directly correlated with the intensity of community screening efforts. Increased screening leads to higher detection rates, particularly among individuals unaware of their HIV status.

“the observed decrease in cases should not be interpreted as a substantial reduction in transmission rates,” Dr.Widada stated.”It is indeed possible that the decline is linked to changes in screening coverage. Prioritizing early detection is paramount in managing and controlling the spread of HIV/AIDS.”

The Dinkes continues to advocate for widespread HIV testing and awareness campaigns to ensure timely diagnosis and access to treatment. Early detection not only improves the health outcomes for individuals living with HIV but also plays a crucial role in preventing further transmission within the community.
