Julia Roberts was “intimidated” and “scared” of her “After the Hunt” co-star, Chloë Sevigny, when they met.
The “Pretty Woman” actress recalled the first time she and Sevigny crossed paths in an interview with Variety published Thursday.
“Not to take away from any of the kind things the rest of you are saying, as honestly, my loving cup is so full that it’s running over, as you can see.But I was so excited and intimidated about meeting Chloë,” Roberts told the outlet.
Roberts, 57, recalled sitting at her kitchen table with the movie’s producer Allan Mandelbaum, director Luca Guadagnino, and co-star Ayo Edebiri to discuss “the material and rehearsing.” Also in the room was Roberts’ 20-year-old daughter Hazel, who was making herself some lunch.
“Allan, our producer, he came in, and he goes, ‘Chloë should just be here in a couple minutes.’ And I look up,and Ayo looks up,and we match eyes,” Roberts said.
When Guadagnino asked what was wrong, Roberts admitted, “I’m scared” – prompting the “bear” actress to agree, saying, “Me too.”
“And Hazel goes, ‘I’m leaving.’ And then, like a minute later, the doorbell rang, and Hazel goes, ‘I’m leaving through the garage.'”
The “erin Brockovich” star said that she and the group were “so excited and intimidated” for Sevigny to arrive.
