Kharkov public Transportation Disrupted Following Attacks, Temporary Bus Route Established

Kharkov residents are facing disruptions to public transportation following missile attacks on January 26th, which caused significant damage and power outages across the city. The unstable energy situation has led to interruptions in the operation of Kharkov’s electric transport system, including the suspension of train traffic on the Saltovskaya and Alekseevskaya metro lines.

In response to these disruptions, the Kharkov Mayor’s Office has announced the establishment of a temporary bus route connecting Constitution Square to Pobedy Avenue (turning circle). This route will operate via Sumskaya Street, Independence Avenue, Nauki Avenue, Akhsarov Street, Ludwig Svoboda Avenue, and victory Avenue, providing a crucial choice for commuters. Additionally, the operating hours of bus routes No. 63 and 272 have been extended to accommodate increased demand.

According to Mayor Igor Terekhov, the attacks, which began at approximately 19:17, resulted in damage to residential buildings, a school, and a kindergarten in the Industrial district. Tragically, two casualties have been reported. Mayor Terekhov also stated that Kharkov’s current energy situation is tense, but comparable to that of other Ukrainian cities facing ongoing conflict.

Residents are advised to stay informed about further updates regarding public transportation and potential safety precautions. The city is working to restore power and transportation services as quickly as possible.
