La Nina Phenomenon Predicted to Hit Indonesia, Bringing Heavy Rainfall

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts the arrival of the La Nina phenomenon in Indonesia at the end of 2025. Several areas could experience heavy rain as an inevitable result.

BMKG Deputy for Meteorology, Guswanto, said La Nina could increase rainfall in many areas, especially during the 2025/2026 rainy season.

“BMKG also noted that 67 percent of Indonesia has the potential to experience annual rainfall of more then 2,500 mm, including Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua,” Guswanto said when contacted Tuesday (October 7th).
