The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a man in his 20s with severe injuries. The incident occurred on January 9, 2026, at approximately 2:40 a.m. In downtown Los Angeles.

Details of the Collision

According to the LAPD, the suspect vehicle was traveling westbound on Eighth Street when it struck a pedestrian crossing the roadway. The driver continued westbound toward Bixel Street without stopping to render aid or identify themselves. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of severe injuries.

Police Appeal and Reward

The LAPD reminds drivers that California law requires them to stop after being involved in a collision. Drivers are legally obligated to pull over when safe, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to provide identification.
