Legislator Says Prabowo’s Speech Supporting Palestine at UN Aligns with Public Mandate
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Member of the House of Representatives Commission I Desy Ratnasari assessed that President Prabowo Subianto’s speech at the united Nations High Level Conference on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, aligns with the mandate of the people.
This is as, in the speech, Prabowo reiterated Indonesia’s support for the independence and recognition of the Palestinian state.
“This is not just a foreign policy stance, but also a humanitarian and moral imperative,” Desy said in a statement to Kompas.com on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
Desy reminded that support for Palestine is the enduring commitment of the Indonesian nation as stipulated in the constitution.

Thus, Desy continued, the PAN DPR RI faction supports the government’s efforts to conduct international diplomacy, in order to fight for Palestinian independence and realize world peace.
“President Prabowo’s speech before world leaders reiterated the enduring commitment of the Indonesian nation to Palestinian independence, as the mandate of our constitution that colonialism must be eliminated from the face of the earth,” said Desy.
The PAN politician stressed that the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, which has claimed many lives, must end immediatly through peace.
Desy hopes that in the future more and more countries will support independence and recognize the Palestinian state.
