Liepaja Concert Hall acquires New Digital Organ in Collaboration with German Master Craftsman

The Liepaja Concert Hall (“Great Amber”) in Latvia has recently acquired a new digital organ, expanding its musical capabilities and providing a valuable resource for music education. The instrument was custom-built in Germany in partnership with renowned organ master Michael Aihler. https://liepajaskoncerta.lv/en/

This acquisition was made possible through a public donation campaign, “Give the Concert Hall,” which successfully raised 25,000 euros. Contributions came from members of the Concert hall Growth Society and a significant outpouring of public donations. The digital organ will broaden the repertoire available at the concert hall and benefit its resident ensembles, including the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra.

A key feature of the new organ is its mobility, allowing it to be used in locations beyond the concert hall itself. Furthermore, the instrument will serve as a crucial training tool for students at the Liepaja Music, Art and Design high School, providing them with hands-on experiance with organ performance.

The organ will make its debut during the opening concert of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra’s season. Organist Iveta Apkalna played a key role in the selection of the instrument, ensuring it meets the high artistic standards of the hall. https://www.ivetaapkalna.com/
