LSU Gymnastics Defeats Arkansas as Kailin Chio Achieves Historic Perfect 10s

BATON ROUGE – The No. 2 LSU Gymnastics team (11-3-1, 5-3 SEC) closed out the regular season with a 198.075-197.100 victory over No. 8 Arkansas (5-7-1, 2-5-1 SEC) on Friday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The win marked the Tigers’ third consecutive score above 198 this season and their fifth overall.

Chio’s Historic Performance

The night was highlighted by sophomore Kailin Chio, who earned three perfect 10s in vault, beam, and floor exercise. This achievement makes her the first gymnast in NCAA history to score a 10.0 in all three events in a single meet while only competing in those three events. Chio now has 10 perfect 10s in her career, the second-most by a gymnast in LSU history. She has five on beam, three on vault, and two on floor.

With nine perfect 10s this season, Chio tied Haleigh Bryant’s record for the most perfect 10s scored in a single season. Tiger Rag reports that Chio focuses on trusting her instincts and muscle memory when competing.

Undefeated Home Streak Continues

LSU’s victory extended its home record to 5-0, capping off another undefeated home mark in the regular season. This is the third consecutive year the Tigers have finished the home portion of their season undefeated, a first in program history. LSU has achieved this record on seven previous occasions: 2025, 2024, 2018, 2017, 2014, 2010, and 1987.

Event Highlights

LSU claimed four event titles on the night: Chio on vault, beam, and floor, and Konnor McClain on bars with a 9.950. The last time an LSU gymnast scored three 10s in a single meet was Haleigh Bryant in 2023 against West Virginia.

  • Vault: LSU started strong with a rotation score of 49.525, anchored by Chio’s perfect 10.
  • Bars: McClain anchored the bars rotation with a 9.950, contributing to a team score of 49.375.
  • Beam: Chio earned her second perfect 10 of the night on beam, leading the team to a 49.475.
  • Floor: Chio secured her third perfect 10, and Kaliya Lincoln anchored the rotation with a near-perfect 9.975, resulting in a 49.700.

Looking Ahead

No. 2 LSU will head to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the 2026 SEC Gymnastics Championships, where they will compete as the No. 2 seed in the evening session at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 21, inside the BOK Center. LSUSports.net provides details on the upcoming championship.
