Construction Worker Rescued from 15-Foot Trench in Reno
A construction worker was rescued Friday morning after becoming trapped in a 15-foot-deep trench near the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. The incident prompted a large emergency response from the Reno Fire Department.
Details of the Rescue
The Reno Fire Department received a call at 11:09 a.m. Reporting a person stuck in a trench at 2501 Mill Street. Firefighters arrived on the scene within two minutes, at 11:11 a.m., and immediately began rescue operations.
Crews deployed two engines, a heavy rescue unit, and a ladder truck to extract the worker. The man was successfully brought to the surface while conscious and alert.
A medical team evaluated the worker on-site, and transport to a hospital was considered depending on the assessment. No firefighters were injured during the rescue.
Investigation Underway
Authorities stated the worker did not fall into the trench but became unable to exit while working within it. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
