United has secured only four points from their initial four Premier League matches and suffered a League Cup defeat against Grimsby Town, a team from the fourth tier of English football. They now prepare to host Chelsea, the reigning FIFA Club World Cup champions, at Old Trafford.

Since assuming his role in november, Amorim has achieved victory in just eight of his 31 Premier League games. However, he stated that Ratcliffe expressed continued faith in the club’s long-term vision.

“A new contract,” Amorim quipped when questioned about the meeting with Ratcliffe. “No, it is indeed normal things, just to show the support and explaining that it is a long project.”

Last season saw United finish 15th in the Premier League – their lowest position in the top-flight since the 1973-74 season – and miss out on Champions League qualification following a Europa League final loss to Tottenham.

Despite these setbacks, Amorim remains optimistic about the team’s progress, emphasizing the need for greater decisiveness in both attack and defense.

“This is football at the club with maybe more pressure in the world, but we want to win,” he said. “I think last year I was very critical of the way we play.I think we are playing well until the boxes, defending and attacking, we need to be more aggressive in the boxes. We need to be more clinical.”

“The rest, I think we are improving compared to last year, I think we are in a better place. But again, we need to win, we lost against Arsenal and [Manchester] City, and hear, losing, especially in the beginning after last season, is a problem.”
