Team USA Competes on Day Two of UCI Track World Championships

On the second day of the 2025 UCI Track World Championships, Team USA competed in the Men’s Team Pursuit, Women’s elimination, Men’s Scratch, and Women’s Sprint.

Men’s Team Pursuit

The Team Pursuit squad delivered a strong performance yesterday, qualifying for the bronze medal final against New Zealand.

Ashlin Barry (Toronto, Ont.; JEGG – SKIL – DJR), Graeme Frislie (Paradise, Aus.; CCACHE x Bodywrap), Anders Johnson (Huntsville, Utah), and Grant Koontz (Nederland, Colo.; Star Track Cycling) prepared for the final showdown.

The team rode with precision and power, executing smooth exchanges and keeping New Zealand within reach. With a kilometer remaining, Team USA launched a final push but finished 1.03 seconds behind, placing fourth overall.

Although thay narrowly missed the podium, the team demonstrated exceptional effort. This result marks Team USA’s best finish in the event since 1995, when they last won a World Championships medal.

Men’s Scratch

Grant Koontz (Nederland, Colo.; Star Track Cycling) raced in the 10k Scratch Race shortly after the Team Pursuit finals.

The group remained together untill 18 laps to go, when it split into two. Koontz found himself in the lead group,and the race ultimately came down to eight riders driving the tempo.
