Ninova Accuses Radev of Interfering in BSP Processes, Expresses Regret Over Presidential Nomination

Korneliya Ninova, leader of the Nepokorna Bulgaria political movement and former chairwoman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), has publicly accused former President Rumen Radev of interfering in BSP processes and expressed regret over nominating him for the presidency in 2016. Ninova made the statements on Facebook, responding to what she perceived as mockery from Radev regarding the resources of her current political formation.

Rift Began with First Caretaker Government

According to Ninova, the initial strain in her relationship with Radev began with the appointment of ministers from GERB in his first caretaker government. She stated that this action signaled a divergence from the BSP’s long-standing opposition to the GERB model. “He appointed ministers from GERB. That’s how the alienation from the BSP began,” Ninova said, as reported by Fakti.bg. She further claimed that Radev subsequently supported the creation of alternative parties while the BSP continued to challenge the GERB model.

Accusations of Financial Disparities

Ninova criticized Radev for allegedly mocking the limited resources of “Disobedient Bulgaria,” sharing a satirical image highlighting the party’s lack of funding for professional equipment and photography. She countered by questioning the source of funds for Radev’s “expensive offices across the country, for the expensive Anel hotel, for the rich events.”

No Oligarchic Influence, Ninova Claims

Ninova asserted that her current political formation, Nepokorna Bulgaria, is free from the influence of oligarchs and criminals. “No one pulls my strings and keeps me dependent,” she emphasized. She contrasted this with what she views as a need for Radev to explain his financial resources.

Call for Debate, Not Facebook Comments

Ninova urged Radev to engage in a debate about real politics rather than making comments on Facebook. She expressed concern that Radev was criticizing a young volunteer for working without pay or official support, suggesting this behavior was unbecoming of someone seeking to lead Bulgaria.

Radev’s Recent Political Activities

In a separate development, Rumen Radev recently presented the priorities of a coalition, stating that “Progressive Bulgaria” is a powerful political alternative that will restore confidence in the country.

Ninova’s Position on Radev’s Absence from Constitutional Court Oath

Korneliya Ninova previously stated that Rumen Radev’s decision to miss the oath-taking ceremony at the Constitutional Court was a positive one, adding that the BSP had requested he not attend.
