Negros Occidental Prepares for Kanlaon Evacuees

BACOLOD CITY – The provincial government of Negros Occidental is gearing up to bring relief to over 3,000 residents displaced by the recent eruption of Kanlaon Volcano.

Provincial administrator Rayfrando Diaz II announced on Wednesday that Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has instructed his team to prepare the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, as a temporary shelter for the evacuees.

Diaz emphasized that the facility is intended to provide a safe and supportive environment for the evacuees, with the expectation that they will remain there for approximately three weeks, or until it is deemed safe for them to return to their homes.

The eruption of Kanlaon Volcano has caused widespread disruption and displacement, prompting authorities to prioritize the safety and well-being of those affected. The provincial government’s swift action in preparing the Panaad facility demonstrates their commitment to supporting the evacuees during this challenging time.
