Paris Municipal Elections 2026: Left Holds Ground as New Mayors Emerge

The balance of political power in Paris remains largely unchanged following the second round of municipal elections, with nine arrondissements (boroughs) continuing to be led by the left and eight by the right. The results, published by the Paris town hall, also saw the election of three new district mayors: David Belliard, Lucie Castets, and Catherine Lécuyer.

Ecologist Gains in the 11th Arrondissement

David Belliard, representing the ecologist movement, secured victory in the 11th arrondissement with 55.32% of the vote. He defeated Nelly Garnier of Les Républicains (LR) who received 22.67%, and Sabrina Nouri of La France Insoumise (LFI) with 14.72% Reuters.

Lucie Castets Wins in the 12th Arrondissement

Lucie Castets, representing the union of the left, won the mayoral seat in the 12th arrondissement with 47.51% of the votes. She overcame Valérie Montandon (LR) who garnered 33.01% and Caroline Mecary (LFI) with 11.38%. Right-Wing Victory in the 8th Arrondissement

Catherine Lécuyer, backed by Rachida Dati, emerged victorious in the 8th arrondissement, obtaining 57.11% of the vote. She defeated Théa Fourdrinier (Place publique) with 22.01% and the outgoing mayor, Jeanne d’Hauteserre (LR), who received 13.55% despite not receiving her party’s endorsement. Incumbent Mayors Retain Positions

Eleven outgoing mayors were re-elected. Ariel Weil (PS) will continue to lead Paris Center with 50.69% of the vote, and Alexandra Cordebard (PS) was re-elected in the 10th arrondissement with 48.13%. Eric Lejoindre retained his position in the 18th arrondissement (43.82%), as did François Dagnaud in the 19th (52.61%). Eric Pliez (Place publique) was re-elected in the 20th arrondissement (53.98%), and Carine Petit (environmentalist) won in the 14th arrondissement with 49.64%.

On the right, Florence Berthout (Horizons) remains mayor of the 5th arrondissement (52.66%), Jean-Pierre Lecoq (LR) will continue to lead the 6th arrondissement (53.66%), and Delphine Bürkli (UDI) was re-elected in the 9th arrondissement (57.84%). LR mayors Philippe Goujon (15th arrondissement, 61.14%) and Geoffroy Boulard (17th arrondissement, 60.5%) also secured re-election.

Early Re-elections

Rachida Dati (7th arrondissement), Jérôme Coumet (UG, 13th arrondissement), and Jérémy Redler (UD, 16th arrondissement) were re-elected in the first round on March 15th.
