RandomControl Unveils Powerful Animation Capabilities in Maverick Studio and Maverick Indie 2024 Updates
RandomControl has injected new life into its GPU renderers, Maverick Studio and Maverick Indie, with a series of 2024 updates focused on animation. These updates aim to empower industrial designers and entertainment artists with a more dynamic and versatile workflow.
A Complete Animation System Tailored for Marketing Visualizations
The substantial 2024.1 releases introduced a ground-breaking animation system built from the ground up. “Making everything animatable,” RandomControl empowers users to bring every object attribute, from camera movements to lighting and materials, to life.
This feature caters specifically to marketing visualization, enabling the creation of dynamic ad clips and presentations directly within the software without the need for external video editing tools. Users can utilize a traditional keyframe animation workflow or leverage ready-made Motion Controllers for common animation types.
Workflow Enhancements and Additional Features
Beyond the core animation toolset, the 2024.1 updates boast a range of enhancements:
- A tonemap frontplate for adding animated logos or watermarks to renders.
- Increased maximum texture bake resolution from 4K to 8K.
- Expanded Scatter modifier support for up to eight sources.
- Performance improvements for interactive preview rendering (IPR) and heavy scenes.
- Enhanced material support for Substance .sbsar format and the option to export animated GIFs.
Further updates in Maverick Studio 2024.2 and Maverick Indie 2024.2 welcomed initial USD support, allowing users to import data in .usd, .usda, .usdc, and .usdz formats.
Streamlined GPU Renderers for Visualization and Entertainment
Launched in 2019, Maverick Studio targets product and automotive visualization with its streamlined workflow and physically accurate spectral render engine with built-in denoising. It boasts a drag-and-drop interface for material assignments, lighting, and camera setup, and is fully CUDA-based with out-of-core rendering capabilities.
Maverick Indie, a more affordable option aimed at entertainment professionals, focuses on rendering assets and scenes for film, television, and games. It lacks support for certain CAD file formats and features, including NURBS and cross-section rendering, found in Maverick Studio.
Pricing and System Requirements
Maverick Indie and Maverick Studio are available for 64-bit Windows only and require a CUDA-compatible NVIDIA GPU. You can find a detailed feature comparison table here.
- Maverick Indie perpetual license: €249.99 (around $260); rental starts at €19.99/month ($21/month).
- Maverick Studio perpetual license: €499.99 ($520); rental starts at €39.99/month ($42/month).
