Table of Contents

Jindra returns again, but this time he takes a hammer.

The Legacy of the Forge is the second paid DLC that has arrived in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Possibility to open your own smith and hard work to earn gros. In addition,Jindra is waiting for a difficult task,as he decides to repair the Kutná Hora astronomical clock, which broke years ago.

This time the story revolves around Jindr’s efforts to follow the father’s legacy from the time when he tried to repair the astronomical clock.Of course, there is nothing simple here, so on the way you will meet several new characters that mix the events themselves, or at least expand the story around Martin (Jindr’s father). I have to say that the whole setting was much more sad compared to the colors of death. This time, the authors decided to choose a lighter form and the blacksmith’s legacy is diverted from a darker or politically tuned tone of the basic game. Of course, heavy topics are still being solved here, but I certainly laughed more frequently enough. Especially the dynamics of two characters that help you in repair, I found it great. even the story itself works much better.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance, released in 2018 by Warhorse Studios, was a breath of fresh air in the RPG landscape. Eschewing the typical fantasy tropes of dragons and magic, it offered a grounded, historically accurate experience set in 15th-century Bohemia. The game aimed for realism in its combat, character progression, and world-building, and while it wasn’t without its flaws, it garnered a dedicated fanbase and left a lasting impact.

One of the game’s most striking features was its challenging combat system. Forget button-mashing; Kingdom Come: Deliverance demanded patience, timing, and strategic thinking. Mastering the various sword fighting stances, learning to parry and riposte, and understanding your opponent’s weaknesses were crucial for survival. This system, while initially daunting, proved incredibly rewarding as players improved thier skills and felt a genuine sense of accomplishment with each victory.

Beyond combat, the game excelled in its immersive world. Bohemia felt alive, with bustling towns, dense forests, and realistic social interactions. The developers meticulously researched the period, resulting in authentic clothing, architecture, and customs. The consequences of your actions felt real, and your reputation mattered. Committing crimes, even minor ones, could have lasting repercussions.

Character progression was another area where Kingdom Come: Deliverance stood out. Instead of leveling up conventional stats, players improved their skills through practice. Reading books, crafting items, and engaging in conversations all contributed to Henry’s advancement. This system encouraged players to actively participate in the world and learn through experience.

Though, the game wasn’t without its issues. It launched with a notable number of bugs, which, while largely addressed through patches, initially marred the experience for many players. The game’s performance could also be inconsistent, and the sheer complexity of some systems could be overwhelming for newcomers.

Despite these shortcomings, kingdom Come: Deliverance remains a unique and memorable RPG. Its commitment to realism, challenging combat, and immersive world set it apart from its contemporaries. Kingdom Come: Deliverance – A Woman’s Lot Review: A return to Bohemia Worth Making

The latest DLC for Kingdom Come: deliverance, A Woman’s Lot, offers players a fresh perspective on the medieval world, shifting the focus to the challenges and opportunities faced by women in 1403 Bohemia. This isn’t a new game, but a substantial expansion that adds roughly 25-30 hours of gameplay, centered around a compelling narrative and engaging new mechanics.

The story follows Katherine, the runaway wife of a mercenary captain, who finds refuge in the village of Německý Brod. Players take on the role of Henry’s mother, and must navigate a complex web of relationships, societal expectations, and personal ambitions as she attempts to build a new life for herself. Unlike the main game’s focus on combat and traditional male roles, A Woman’s Lot emphasizes social interactions, crafting, and economic management.

One of the most significant additions is the ability to run and manage your own blacksmith shop. This mechanic is surprisingly deep, requiring players to gather resources, fulfill commissions, and manage finances. It provides a welcome change of pace from the often-brutal world of Kingdom Come, and offers a satisfying sense of progression. the DLC also introduces new clothing and equipment specifically for Katherine, reflecting the fashion of the time.Beyond the blacksmithing, A woman’s Lot expands upon the existing world with new quests, characters, and locations. The writing is strong, and the voice acting is excellent, bringing the story and its inhabitants to life. The expansion also benefits from technical improvements made since the game’s initial release, including improved performance, enhanced graphics with bloom, HDR support for better color range and adaptive HUD, which dynamically adapts to the situation in the game and improves immersion.Verdict

The legacy of the smith is fresh and pleasantly lightweight extensions that enjoy the new story and the possibility of owning a blacksmith. The fittings as such could have been more elegant, but the combination of new tasks, technical improvements and sympathetic atmosphere makes the DLC a solid reason to return to kutná Hora.

What do we like and dislike?

Pros:

A fun and captivating story
New characters and expansion of Jindra’s family story
The possibility to have your own smithy
improved graphics and performance
