San Antonio Maintenance Worker Arrested in Attempted Sexual Assault Case

San Antonio police, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, have apprehended Jesus Carlos Rivera, 43, on charges of attempted sexual assault. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred in July 2025, where Rivera allegedly forced his way into a woman’s apartment and assaulted her.

Details of the Incident

According to an affidavit from the San Antonio Police Department, the incident took place on July 8, 2025, at an apartment complex located on Fredericksburg Road. The victim, a 31-year-old woman, stated that Rivera, a maintenance worker at the complex, initially visited her apartment to repair a sink. Later that evening, after reportedly drinking with friends, Rivera allegedly knocked on the victim’s door, pushed his way inside when she opened it, and locked the door behind him.

The victim told investigators that Rivera began kissing her, groping her breasts, and attempting to remove her clothing while making unwanted sexual advances. The assault was interrupted when the victim’s 4-year-old daughter emerged from a room, crying, allowing the woman to push Rivera out of the apartment and secure the door. Rivera reportedly lingered briefly before leaving the premises.

The victim identified Rivera in a photo lineup on August 21, 2025. She also stated that Rivera lived at the apartment complex with his wife and children, but they moved out the day after the alleged assault.

Arrest and Current Status

Jesus Carlos Rivera was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service on February 12, 2026, and booked into the Bexar County jail according to Bexar County jail records. His bond has been set at $50,000 as reported by News4SanAntonio. As of February 17, 2026, Rivera remains in custody at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center.

Rivera is facing a third-degree felony charge of attempted sexual assault. His next court appearance, a pre-indictment hearing, is scheduled for May 12, 2026 .

Concerns Raised

The incident has raised concerns about the vulnerability of apartment residents when maintenance workers have access to individual units. It also highlights the challenges victims face when reporting such crimes, particularly when children are present as noted by National Today.
