We will talk about the extraordinary history of American Indians tomorrow at Popular Library of San Concordio. It starts at 2pm with the inauguration of one show dedicated, at 4pm appointment with the screening of documentario Wounded Knee on the history of struggles for the rights of American Indians, followed by a debate. With “Healing and Freedom Movement” and “American Indian Movement” a unique event will be held that will bring the history, culture and spirit of rebirth of the people to our city Native Americans.
The project conceived by Sibilla Drisaldi and Donald Buddy Hatch is divided into several moments including an exhibition that recounts the journey of freedom and resistance of the indigenous peoples of the United States through images, traditional objects, music and testimonies. It will also be possible to admire a pictorial work by Leonard Peltierthe Native American leader who, after almost fifty years of unjust imprisonment, is today a universal symbol of resistance and dignity. The project also includes the documentary Wounded Knee on the history of struggles for American Indian rights, land protection and cultural rebirth from the 1970s to today.
Following the meeting with Donald Buddy Hatch who will tell us the community history of members of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribe of Oklahoma, of which his family represents an important piece of contemporary history. The invitation is to learn about and delve into the struggles and resistance of Native Americans, often forgotten and which acquires even greater value if read with today’s events.
