Apple Unveils Fresh Studio Display and Studio Display XDR
Apple has announced a new generation of displays – the Studio Display and Studio Display XDR – designed to complement the Mac ecosystem for both everyday users and creative professionals. The new models boast enhanced features, including improved camera technology, advanced audio systems, and faster connectivity.
Studio Display: A Powerful All-in-One Solution
The new Studio Display features a 27-inch 5K Retina display with 14.7 million pixels, delivering 600 nits of brightness and support for 1 billion colors with the P3 wide color gamut. Apple has integrated a 12MP Center Stage camera, now with improved image quality and Desk View, which provides a top-down view of the user’s workspace during video calls. The display too includes a studio-quality three-microphone array and a six-speaker system with Spatial Audio, offering 30 percent deeper bass than the previous generation.
Connectivity is provided through two Thunderbolt 5 ports (up to 120Gb/s) and two USB-C ports (up to 10Gb/s). The included Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable supports up to 96W of power delivery, capable of fast-charging a 14-inch MacBook Pro.
The Studio Display is available with standard glass or an optional nano-texture glass, designed to minimize reflections in bright lighting conditions. Stand options include a tilt-adjustable stand, a tilt- and height-adjustable stand, and a VESA mount adapter.
Studio Display XDR: Professional-Grade Performance
Targeted at professional users, the Studio Display XDR elevates the display experience with a 27-inch 5K Retina XDR display. It features a mini-LED backlight with over 2,000 local dimming zones, achieving up to 1000 nits of SDR brightness and 2000 nits of peak HDR brightness. Apple Newsroom highlights a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and support for both P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces.
The Studio Display XDR also boasts a 120Hz refresh rate with Adaptive Sync, dynamically adjusting frame rates for smoother video playback and graphics-intensive applications. Like the standard Studio Display, it includes the 12MP Center Stage camera, three-microphone array, and six-speaker sound system. It also features Thunderbolt 5 connectivity and a Thunderbolt 5 Pro cable capable of delivering up to 140W of power, sufficient for fast-charging a 16-inch MacBook Pro.
The stand offers adjustable tilt and height, with a VESA mount adapter also available.

The new Studio Display starts at $1,599 with a tilt-adjustable stand, while the Studio Display XDR begins at $3,299 with a tilt- and height-adjustable stand. Pre-orders have already begun, with official sales commencing on March 11th.
