Coinbase CEO Fired Engineers Who Didn’t Adopt AI
After granting licenses to all engineers, some Armstrong’s cryptocurrency exchange employees warned that the acceptance of new technology would not be rapid. They estimated that it would take a few months to get at least half of the engineers to take advantage of artificial intelligence adn that some of them would completely reject it,writes TechCrunch.
According to armstrong, however, artificial intelligence is crucial for his company. “AI is crucial for us. We want you to embrace it and start taking advantage of it gradually,” wrote the boss on the company’s main engineering channel last week.
“It is not necessary to take advantage of it every day before training, but by the end of the week I expect you to join. If not, on Saturday I will schedule meetings with those who have not yet signed up to clarify the reasons together,” he added.
Anyone who did not apply to take advantage of artificial intelligence was immediately dismissed. “On Saturday I followed up and noticed that several people had not done it yet. some had understandable reasons, such as being away, but others had no relevant explanations – and the company said goodbye to them,” said Armstrong in the Cheeky Pint John Collison podcast.
