Dark AI Fuels Rise in Cyber Attacks, kaspersky Reports
Jakarta, CNN Indonesia — Kaspersky, a cybersecurity company, is warning the public about the growing threat of “Dark AI,” artificial intelligence used to orchestrate increasingly refined cyber attacks.
Kaspersky identified Dark AI as a key trend in recent findings. The company explained how attackers are using AI technology to launch digital threats globally, ranging from simple phishing schemes to state-sponsored cyber espionage.
“Since chatgpt gained global popularity in 2023, we have observed the beneficial use of AI, from simple tasks like video creation to the detection and analysis of technical threats,” said sergey Lozhkin, Head of the Global Analysis Research Team (Great) for Meta and APAC at Kaspersky, in a statement on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

“Simultaneously occurring, cybercriminals are using it to enhance their attack capabilities. We are entering an era of cybersecurity where AI is a shield, and Dark AI is the sword,” Lozhkin added.
