Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation Announces Free Homecoming Program for Eid al-Fitr 2026

Jakarta – The Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kementerian Perhubungan) is preparing for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming (mudik) season with a free passenger program. Registration opens on March 1st, 2026, and will continue until all available seats are filled.

Program Details

A total of 401 buses will be deployed, offering 15,834 seats to facilitate free travel for those returning to their hometowns. The program will serve 34 destination cities across 10 provinces. Return trips will be available from 12 cities in 8 provinces.

Destination Cities

The free homecoming program will cover the following destination cities: Palembang, Lampung, Bengkulu, Padang, Medan, Aceh, Garut, Tasikmalaya, Cirebon, Kuningan, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, Purwokerto, Tegal, Pekalongan, Demak, Boyolali, Klaten, Pati, Blora, Cilacap, Wonosobo, Kebumen, Magelang, Wonosari, Jepara, Sragen, Madiun, Surabaya, Tuban, Malang, and Tulungagung.

Return Trip Departures

Return trips will depart from Kuningan, Madiun, Surabaya, Palembang, Padang, Medan, Aceh, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, and Purwokerto.

Motorcycle Transportation

In addition to passenger buses, the Ministry of Transportation will provide transportation for 240 motorcycles via 8 dedicated trucks. This service is specifically for travelers heading to or from Solo, Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, and Purwokerto.

Registration and Departure Schedule

Registration for the free homecoming program will be conducted online through the website nusantara.kemenhub.go.id, starting March 1st, 2026. The registration process involves creating an account, selecting a desired schedule and route, providing personal information, and verifying the registration details.

Departure Waves

The departure of homecoming buses will be staggered across three days and five terminals:

  • March 16, 2026: Pondok Cabe Terminal, South Tangerang
  • March 17, 2026: Jatijajar Terminal, Depok and Pulogebang Terminal, Jakarta
  • March 18, 2026: Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Jakarta and Poris Plawad Terminal, Tangerang

Return buses will depart simultaneously on March 25th, 2026, from terminals in the origin cities to Jakarta and surrounding areas, including Bulupitu Terminal Purwokerto, Mangkang Semarang Terminal, Giwangan Terminal Yogyakarta, Tirtonandi Terminal Solo, Giri Adipura Terminal Wonogiri, Kertawangunan Terminal Kuningan, Purboyo Madiun Terminal, Bungurasih Terminal Surabaya, Alang-Alang Lebar Terminal Palembang, Anak Air Padang Terminal, Amplas Terminal Medan, and Terminal Batoh Aceh.
