NEW DELHI (AP) – Google announced on Tuesday that it will invest $15 billion in India over the next five years to establish it’s first artificial intelligence hub in the country.

the investment underscores Google’s growing reliance on India as a key technology and talent base in the global race for AI dominance. For India,it brings in high-value infrastructure and foreign investment at a scale that can accelerate its digital transformation ambitions.

Google said its AI hub investment will include construction of a new international subsea gateway that would connect to the company’s more than 2 million miles (3.2 million kilometers) of existing terrestrial and subsea cables.

“The initiative creates significant economic and societal opportunities for both India and the United States, while pioneering a generational shift in AI capability,” the company’s statement said.

Trump Hosts Tech Titans – But Not Musk – at White House

WASHINGTON (AP) – Former President Donald Trump hosted a gathering of leading technology executives at his mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Thursday, seeking to court the industry as he campaigns to regain the White House. Notably absent from the meeting was Elon Musk, the owner of X, formerly known as Twitter, and Tesla.

The meeting included CEOs from companies like Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet (Google’s parent company), and Nvidia, according to people familiar with the event who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss it publicly.

Trump has long had a complex relationship with the tech industry. During his presidency, he frequently clashed with social media companies over content moderation, and his administration pursued antitrust investigations into some of the largest tech firms. Though, he also recognized the importance of the tech sector to the U.S. economy and national security.

The purpose of thursday’s meeting was to discuss a range of issues, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the future of technology innovation. Trump reportedly emphasized his commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment and reducing regulations.

The absence of Elon Musk was notably striking, given Musk’s prominent role in the tech world and his previous interactions with Trump. Musk has publicly expressed skepticism about government regulation and has been a vocal advocate for free speech, positions that might align with Trump’s views. however, Musk has also been critical of trump in the past.

The gathering underscores Trump’s efforts to rebuild relationships with key industries as he seeks to broaden his appeal to voters. It remains to be seen whether these efforts will translate into significant support from the tech sector, but the meeting signals a clear attempt to engage with an industry that holds considerable influence in the modern economy.
