Fire in Kharkiv Region Claims Life, Ongoing Attacks Cause Damage

A fire in the Malaya Danilovka community, located north of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine, resulted in the death of a resident on March 2, 2026, according to Alexander Gololobov, head of the community. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was not caused by shelling, but rather was domestic in nature. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Continued Attacks and Damage in Kharkiv Region

The Kharkiv region continues to be a focal point of conflict, with Russian forces launching numerous attacks over the past 24 hours. Oleg Sinegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration (KhOVA), reported that over four dozen UAVs were launched at the region, alongside other weaponry.

Specifically, the attacks included:

  • Two cruise missiles
  • Eight Shahed-236/Geran-2 type UAVs
  • Two Molniya-type UAVs
  • One FPV drone
  • 33 UAVs (type to be determined)

These attacks resulted in injuries to six civilians: three women in Kharkiv (ages 75, 69, and 53) experiencing acute stress, a 75-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman in the village of Aldery, and a 74-year-old man in the village of The Caterpillar.

Damage was reported across several locations:

  • Kharkiv: A high-rise building and three dormitories were damaged, windows were blown out in a children’s hospital and a store, and destruction occurred in a park and an administrative building.
  • Bogodukhovsky District: Damage to electrical networks, an educational institution, and a cemetery in Zolochev village.
  • Kupyansky District: Damage to a hotel in Grushevka village and a private house in Gusinka village.
  • Izyumsky District: Damage to a car in Yaremovka village.
  • Kharkiv Region: Damage to four private houses and a car in Volshany village.

Ukrainian Forces Repel Assaults

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian defenders repelled six Russian assaults in the Kharkiv region over the past 24 hours. Three attempts were made by Russian forces to break through near Prilipka and Zybino, whereas another three were recorded in the Kupyansky direction, near Peschany, Petropavlovka, and Glushkovka.

145 military clashes were recorded, with Russia launching one missile strike, 86 air strikes, and dropping 285 guided bombs. 8,828 kamikaze drones and 3,573 attacks on populated areas and Ukrainian troop positions were carried out, including 46 from multiple launch rocket systems.

Fires Erupt in Kharkiv Following Overnight Attacks

Russian UAV attacks on Kharkiv overnight and into the morning of March 2, 2026, sparked fires in the Shevchenkovsky and Kyiv districts. A fire broke out in a 9-story dormitory building in the Shevchenkovsky district, affecting a window frame on the ninth floor, as well as a generator and garbage in the yard. The fire covered an area of ten square meters.

In total, ten fires were reported in the Kharkiv region over the past 24 hours, three of which were a direct result of Russian shelling. Emergency services as well assisted with pumping water from flooded areas in Izyumsky, Bogodukhovsky, and Kharkivsky districts, as well as the Industrial district of Kharkiv.

Throughout the night, Russian drones were reported circling the Kharkiv region, with air raid sirens sounding from 00:32. Further attacks began in the early morning, with reports of explosions around 06:35.
