OSNS Legacy Foundation Launches “Miles that Matter” Cycling Fundraiser
The OSNS Legacy Foundation has announced a fresh peer-to-peer fundraising event, “Miles that Matter,” to support the OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre. The event will take place throughout the month of May, from May 1st to May 31st, 2026, and aims to bolster the financial stability of the centre, which provides crucial pediatric rehabilitation services to children and youth in the Okanagan Similkameen region.
Cycling for a Cause
“Miles that Matter” is open to cyclists of all skill levels and disciplines. Participants can choose to ride road bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes, or even participate using indoor spin bikes. The event encourages riders to set personal distance or elevation goals and collect pledges from friends, family, and colleagues. Registration is free, and individuals can participate solo, form teams, or join existing groups.
Supporting Children and Youth
The OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre delivered over 100,000 hours of program services in the last year, supporting more than 30,000 children since its inception 48 years ago. Over 100 children access the Centre’s services each day. Funds raised through “Miles that Matter” will help ensure the centre can continue to provide excellence in care and support to families in need.
Matching Donation Opportunity
All donations made during the “Miles that Matter” campaign will be matched, up to a total of $50,000, thanks to the generous support of C.J. Greig & Associates. Bernice and Charlie Greig, of C.J. Greig & Associates, emphasized their personal connection to the OSNS and their belief in the importance of its work.
How to Participate
Registration for “Miles that Matter” is now open at osnslegacyfoundation.org. Participants can track their progress online, and the fundraising platform offers optional integration with the Strava fitness app. While a fundraising goal of $500 per participant is suggested, any amount raised will contribute to the OSNS Legacy Foundation’s efforts.
Flexible and Accessible
Organizers have designed “Miles that Matter” to be flexible and accessible, allowing riders to participate on their own schedules and in a way that suits their individual preferences. Participants are encouraged to create personal challenges to enhance their fundraising efforts.
