Criticism

The widespread cases of food poisoning have drawn criticism from various parties. Concerns have been raised regarding the quality control and hygiene standards in the planning and distribution of the MBG. Many question the effectiveness of the current monitoring system and call for stricter regulations to ensure the safety of the food provided to students.

Poisoning

The incidents of poisoning vary in severity, with some students experiencing mild symptoms like nausea and vomiting, while others require hospitalization. Authorities are investigating the causes of the poisoning, suspecting contamination of the food during the production process or improper storage. Press Groups Condemn Revocation of CNN Indonesia Journalist’s Palace Access

Several Indonesian press organizations have voiced strong concerns following the revocation of a press ID for a journalist from CNN Indonesia. The incident has sparked debate about press independence and access to information within the Presidential Palace.

Komaruddin Hidayat, Chairman of the Press Council, urged the Palace Press Bureau to explain the decision to revoke the ID. He emphasized the importance of not hindering journalistic work within the Palace surroundings. “The Palace Press Bureau should provide an explanation of the revocation of the journalist ID Card CNN Indonesia in order not to hamper the implementation of journalistic tasks in the Palace environment,” Hidayat stated.

The Press Council also called for the immediate restoration of access for the CNN Indonesian journalist who was affected.

The Indonesian Television Journalist Association (IJTI) expressed worry over the withdrawal of Diana Valencia’s Palace coverage credentials, which occurred after she performed her journalistic duties. IJTI believes Valencia’s questioning regarding MBG (presumably a person or topic) was within ethical boundaries and served the public interest.

They pointed out that President Prabowo provided a response to the question, making it important information for the public.”Ijti emphasized the importance of press independence as guaranteed in Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning Press. The action of revoking coverage identity cards can be seen as a form of limiting journalistic work and possibly restricting public access to information,” said Herik Kurniawan, Chairman of Ijti.

The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) echoed these concerns. PWI Central Chairperson Akhmad Munir stated that the action by the Presidential Secretariat’s Press, Bureau, Media, and Information (BPMI) coudl impede press freedom and contradict both the constitution and the Press law.

The Chief Editor Forum also expressed disapproval, requesting that the Palace, specifically BPMI, clarify the reasons for withdrawing Diana Valencia’s press ID. They believe the state has a obligation to ensure journalistic work can be conducted freely throughout indonesia, including within the Presidential Palace.
