Yakutia Suspends Payments to Russian Soldiers
Yakutia has stopped payments to Russian military personnel temporarily as the region doesn’t have enough money adn can’t predict how many soldiers will need the funds.Regional officials announced this.
Ivan alekseev,the Finance Minister of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia),confirmed the suspension on local television on November 21.
He explained that it’s hard to know how many people will require the money, saying:
“Unfortunately, this is where we are right now. But the government has found the money, and an order will be issued soon to make all payments.”
Alekseev didn’t say which payments were stopped. Yakutsk Online reports that Yakutia had set aside as much as 2.6 million rubles (around $29,000) for each contract soldier. this money came from the federal government (400,000 rubles – $4,500), the regional budget (1.8 million rubles – $20,000), and local city budgets (400,000 rubles – $4,500).
Soldiers could also receive extra money – up to 750,000 rubles (about $8,300) for injuries,and 1 million rubles (about $11,000) if they died.
