Over P237.8 Million in Illegal Drugs and Smuggled Goods Seized in Philippines Nationwide Operations
A two-day nationwide operation from March 11-12 resulted in the seizure of over P237.8 million worth of illegal drugs, and P25.8 million in smuggled goods, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP). The operations led to the arrest of several most-wanted individuals across multiple regions.
Key Arrests and Charges
Among those arrested were a top-six most wanted individual in Davao del Norte for murder, a top-four suspect in Baguio City facing twenty-two counts of violations under Republic Act 7610, and a top-two most wanted individual in Misamis Oriental for statutory rape. The suspects face charges ranging from murder and statutory rape to violations of Republic Act (RA) 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and other criminal offenses.
Drug Seizures
Authorities confiscated 32,762 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P222.8 million, from high-value individuals in Quezon City, Butuan City, and Tawi-Tawi. In Benguet and Kalinga, police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) teams uprooted more than 60,000 fully grown marijuana plants and seized over 23,900 grams of dried stalks, with an estimated market value of P15 million.
Anti-Smuggling Operations
Separate anti-smuggling operations led to the apprehension of 11 Chinese nationals in Pampanga for illegally importing batteries valued at over P19 million. Smuggled cigarettes worth over P6 million were seized in Zamboanga City.
Joint Operation Details
The successful operations were conducted by joint teams comprising local police, Regional Investigation Units, CIDG field units, and special action companies. Some suspects are being held without bail, even as others face recommended bail amounts ranging from P36,000 to P4.4 million.

Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, aims to safeguard the well-being of citizens from the harmful effects of dangerous drugs. The Act provides for an integrated system of planning, implementation, and enforcement of anti-drug abuse policies and programs. It also seeks to balance drug control with the medical needs of patients requiring appropriate medications, including those classified as dangerous drugs, and to reintegrate individuals affected by drug abuse into society through rehabilitation programs.
