Prabowo Subianto Affirms Indonesia’s Neutrality and Focus on Domestic Prosperity

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto reiterated Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining friendly relations with all nations and avoiding interference in the internal affairs of other countries. Speaking at the Nuzulul Quran event at the State Palace on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, President Subianto emphasized a foreign policy centered on peace, prosperity, and justice for the Indonesian people.

Commitment to Non-Interference

“The nation of Indonesia, under my leadership and the guidance of my administration, is determined to maintain friendship and good relations with all nations, all countries, and all powers,” President Subianto stated. “We do not aim for to interfere in the internal affairs of any country. We respect all powers in the world, big and small.”

This stance, he explained, aligns with the principles established by Indonesia’s founding fathers and echoes the teachings of religious leaders who prioritize peace. He stressed that achieving peace requires more than just prayer, demanding dedicated effort and hard work to build a prosperous and just society.

Focus on Domestic Challenges

President Subianto highlighted the importance of addressing domestic challenges, particularly poverty, hunger, and suffering. “Maintaining peace is not just by praying and hoping, but as well by making efforts, by working hard to achieve prosperity and justice,” he said. “We realize that it is impossible for prosperity to simply fall from the sky without the efforts and hard work of all of us. We have been given the gift of enormous wealth by the Almighty.”

He underscored the need for collective action to ensure that no Indonesian citizen is left behind, emphasizing the nation’s capacity to overcome these challenges given its abundant resources and a strong, collaborative leadership.

Combating Corruption

President Subianto also reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating corruption and fraudulent practices within the government. He described corruption as a practice forbidden by all religions and a significant impediment to national progress.

“We have to eliminate corruption, fraud, all wrong and bad practices that are prohibited by all religions,” he asserted. “No country is successful if its government is unable to rid itself of corruption. This is a teaching of religion and history. We must not lose to those who want to take the people’s wealth, take it to other countries, and keep the Indonesian nation and people in a weak state.”

Global Turmoil and Indonesian Readiness

Addressing broader geopolitical concerns, President Subianto recently warned of potential economic and political challenges stemming from global conflicts, including escalating tensions in the Middle East. According to Antara News, he stressed the importance of national resilience and unity to confront potential disruptions to the Indonesian economy and society. He emphasized proactive policies and preparedness to mitigate the impact of external shocks.

Prabowo Subianto assumed the presidency on October 20, 2024, as reported by Wikipedia, succeeding Joko Widodo as the eighth president of Indonesia.
