Motorcyclist Dies on Memorial Ride in South Australia
A 47-year-old motorcyclist, Darran Hyman, died after losing his footing in floodwaters in the southern Flinders Ranges of South Australia on Sunday, March 2, 2026. The tragedy occurred although Hyman was on a group ride in memory of his late father, Trevor Hyman, who died in a motorcycle accident two years prior.
Details of the Incident
Emergency services were called to Eurelia on the RM Williams Way, approximately 30 kilometers north of Orroroo, around 9:30 am. According to reports, Hyman was attempting to retrieve his motorbike from Fogden Creek when he slipped and fell into the fast-flowing water ABC News. A Family Tragedy
Darran Hyman’s death comes almost exactly two years after his father, Trevor Hyman, was killed when his motorcycle struck a kangaroo 7NEWS. Kylie Foley, Hyman’s sister, shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, expressing her grief and remembering her brother as a loving father, husband, and friend ABC News. She wrote, “We already lost dad, and through all the pain, we had each other. The space is now empty where you left — it’s dark and cold.”
Heavy Rainfall and Flood Warnings

Another rider had successfully crossed the causeway shortly before the incident. Lowe indicated that Hyman’s bike lost traction as he was riding.
