Tributes Pour In for Fitness Influencer Miguel Angel Aguilar Following Fatal Shooting
Tragedy has struck the fitness community as Miguel Angel Aguilar, the founder and CEO of Self Made Training, has died three months after being shot during an attempted robbery outside his West L.A. home.
Aguilar, a well-known influencer, was hospitalized in critical condition following the September 13 shooting incident in the 11400 block of North Thurston Circle. His death was announced on Saturday via a heartfelt statement on his official Instagram account.
A Life Dedicated to Fitness and Inspiration
“Miguel was more than just a leader; he was a visionary, an inspiration, a mentor, a father, a husband, family, and a dear friend to many,” the statement read. “His unwavering dedication to Self Made Training Facility, his passion for the fitness industry and entrepreneurial spirit have left an enduring legacy.”
The Shocking Robbery and Its Aftermath
According to the LAPD, Aguilar and his wife were confronted by several armed individuals in their driveway who demanded their possessions. During the attempted robbery, Aguilar was shot in the head. One of the suspects, later identified as Mario Melara, was critically wounded during the confrontation and tragically died from his injuries.
Following an investigation, Jason Melara, Daymonee Johnson, and Mahki Taylor were apprehended in Northern California in October in connection with the shooting and attempted robbery.
Charges Filed Against Suspects
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office subsequently filed multiple felony charges against the three suspects, including murder, attempted murder, attempted robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon.
