Jakarta Governor Orders Demolition of Unpermitted Padel Courts
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has directed the demolition of padel courts operating without the necessary Building Permits (PBG), according to a statement released on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The move comes as the Jakarta Provincial Government reviews the permit status of the rapidly growing number of padel facilities in the city.
Padel Court Permitting Status in Jakarta
As of February 23, 2026, a total of 397 padel courts have been identified across Jakarta. Vera Revina Sari, Head of the Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning and Land Affairs (Citata), reported that 212 of these courts have obtained the required PBG. However, 185 padel courts are currently operating without a valid building permit.
Strict Sanctions for Non-Compliance
Governor Anung has emphasized that strict sanctions will be imposed on padel courts lacking PBGs. These sanctions include the suspension of activities, demolition of the structures, and revocation of business licenses. “The next thing is for buildings or padel fields that do not have a PBG (Building Approval) where activities will be stopped, demolished and business permits revoked,” explained Pramono.
Recent Government Appointments
Vera Revina Sari was recently appointed as the Head of the Department of Public Works, Spatial Planning and Land Affairs (Citata) of the DKI Jakarta Province, as part of a larger series of 59 appointments made by Governor Pramono Anung. A full list of appointees is available here.
