JBS USA Invests $150 Million in Cactus, Texas Beef Production Facility Expansion

JBS USA, one of the world’s leading food companies, broke ground on a $150 million expansion project at its beef production facility in Cactus, Texas, on February 27, 2026. The expansion aims to strengthen the facility’s competitiveness and increase operational efficiency.

Project Details

The project includes the construction of a new, state-of-the-art fabrication floor and an expanded ground beef room . Construction is underway and is expected to be completed by early 2027 .

Economic Impact and Community Investment

The Cactus facility currently employs more than 3,600 people and purchases approximately $3.3 billion in livestock annually , . JBS USA anticipates the expansion will create new opportunities for cattle producers, customers, and the surrounding rural communities .

Elected officials have praised the investment. State Rep. Caroline Fairly stated the project demonstrates confidence in the Texas Panhandle, its workforce, and its long-term future . Senator Kevin Sparks expressed gratitude for the additional investment in the Cactus facility, highlighting the Panhandle’s role as a leading beef supplier to the United States .

Beyond the facility improvements, JBS USA continues to invest in the Cactus community through its Hometown Strong and Better Futures programs. Since 2020, the company has invested over $11 million in local projects, including parks, amenities, nonprofit support, and affordable housing, benefiting over 259 team members and their children with access to free community college .
