Toyota GR GT: The LFA Successor is Coming This Christmas
A flat Toyota with an eight-cylinder engine behind the front axle will be shown to the world as a Christmas present. Quite possibly, there will be some kind of hybrid for the eight-cylinder.
The Lexus LFA with a screaming 4.8l ten-cylinder engine was unique in the brand’s offer, but it charmed many times more people then its five hundred original customers. Since production ended in 2012, the world of supercars has been waiting for a successor; The LC 500 was nice, but it was still a luxury grand tourer, not a supersport.
However, the wait for fans is coming to an end, at least according to a report from UK website Autocar. Toyota is scheduled to unveil the successor to the LFA this December, wich already has a name – the GR GT. At the same time, it will be a competitor of the Aston Martin DB12 and a homologation special for races in the GT3 class. It just won’t have a ten-cylinder and it won’t be from Lexus – it will get a V8 and a Toyota logo.
