Regent Sudewo Apologizes for Protest Challenge Remarks

Jakarta, CNN indonesia – Regent Sudewo has apologized for comments that appeared to challenge citizens to protest the policy of rising land and building taxes (PBB-P2) by up to 250 percent. He emphasized that he did not intend to provoke demonstrators.

“I profusely apologize for my statement ‘5,000 please, 50 thousand masses please.’ I do not challenge the people. There was absolutely no intention to do so,” Sudewo stated,according to detikjateng.

Sudewo explained that his intention was simply to express his hope that any presentation would proceed peacefully and genuinely reflect the people’s aspirations, rather than being driven by a specific political party.
