Snoop Dogg Embraces the Winter Olympics, From Skiing to Curling
MILAN — Snoop Dogg, the iconic rapper, has become a ubiquitous presence at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, immersing himself in the events and captivating fans with his enthusiasm. From attempting to learn to ski with Olympic gold medalist Picabo Street to trying his hand at curling and even driving a Zamboni, Snoop has embraced the spirit of the Games.
A Multifaceted Role at the Games
Snoop Dogg’s involvement with the Olympics began during the Tokyo Games in 2021 with the streaming show “Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart & Snoop Dogg.” The playful commentary and viral clips resonated with younger audiences, leading NBC to expand his role for the Milan-Cortina Games.
Now serving as an informal mentor and ambassador to the athletes, Snoop has been seen carrying the Olympic torch, skiing with Picabo Street, sliding a curling stone, and driving a Zamboni. He balances his on-camera duties with a daily highlight show from the Milan studios.
“The Winter Olympics are underrated,” Snoop Dogg said in an interview with NBC. “It’s not highly touted like it should be. This is an event that is just as good as the Super Bowl, as the Summer Olympics. There’s so much action and there’s so much happening, and it’s not just one day. It’s not just four quarters. It’s weeks of great competition — on ice, for the most part.”
Experiencing the Games Firsthand
Snoop’s commitment to the Games extends beyond studio appearances. He traveled from Milan to Cortina d’Ampezzo for curling, sliding, and women’s ski racing, a four-hour drive each way through the Dolomites. He also made a 3½-hour trip to Livigno to watch snowboarding, expressing a particular fondness for the sport.
“I could get good in snowboard, because I just like the creativity of when you’re in the air you have full control but you in the air,” he said. “I just feel like that’s something I could really be good at.”
Looking Ahead to Los Angeles 2028
Despite never having skateboarded, Snoop Dogg remains determined to compete in future Games. He attempted to run the 200 meters at the Olympic trials before the Paris Games, finishing in 33 seconds but sustaining an injury. His goal for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is to run the 200 meters in under 30 seconds.
“When we get to L.A., my mission is for me to run the 200 in under 30 seconds,” he said. “In 2028, I should be 56 years old. So if I can run it in under 30 seconds at 56, that’s a gold medal for me.”
NBC executive producer Molly Solomon anticipates an even larger role for Snoop Dogg at the Los Angeles Games, given his hometown connection. He also expressed his enthusiasm for flag football, which will debut at the Los Angeles Olympics, and highlighted his youth football league that has produced NFL players like C.J. Stroud and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
“Flag football is a sport the whole world can grab ahold of,” Snoop said. “There are so many athletes that are in the NFL that are from different parts of the world that they’ve grown the sport from them just making it to the NFL and being an inspiration for the next generation.”
