Three Arrested in Jakarta Following Rp 1.3 Billion Batik Theft at JCC Senayan
Jakarta – Police have apprehended three individuals in connection with the theft of high-value batik fabrics and clothing from an exhibition at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan. The stolen items are valued at approximately IDR 1.3 billion (approximately $82,000 USD as of February 16, 2026).
Details of the Crime
The theft occurred on the evening of February 3, 2026, at a single booth within the exhibition. According to Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief AKBP Dhimas Prasetyo, the perpetrators had not yet sold the stolen goods as of February 15, 2026. The suspects are believed to have planned the theft carefully, and authorities suspect this wasn’t their first offense.
The Suspects
The three individuals arrested are Ledy Dwanty Naema Koen, Krisantus Nomleni, and Gelbeth Juliana Yunus. Police initiated their investigation following a report filed on February 4, 2026, and utilized CCTV footage to identify and locate the suspects.
Investigation and Arrests
AKP Ikhsan Rangga, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit at the Tanah Abang Police, detailed the arrest process. Police first visited Ledy Dwanty Naema Koen’s residence in Bekasi City, where stolen batik was recovered. Ledy was apprehended with the assistance of her husband, who provided information regarding her location. Following Ledy’s arrest, she led police to Krisantus and Gelbeth, who were located nearby. All three were taken into custody at the Tanah Abang Police station.
Evidence Seized
In addition to the recovered batik fabrics and clothing, police confiscated two containers, two large sacks, a suitcase, five plastic bags, three mobile phones belonging to the suspects, and a Toyota Cayla car allegedly used during the commission of the crime.
Previous Theft at JCC
Authorities revealed that the same group of perpetrators was responsible for a previous theft at the JCC, where approximately IDR 100 million (approximately $6,300 USD as of February 16, 2026) worth of fabric was stolen.
Motive
AKBP Dhimas Prasetyo stated that the motive for the theft was economic, and the perpetrators are friends from the same region.
