The passenger then had to stay in a hotel in Tokyo for two nights while the airline looked for a way to take him back to his original destination.

A United Airlines spokesperson told the Daily Mail that it had contacted the United Airlines team in Los Angeles to find out what exactly happened and reimburse the passenger for the costs.
“We followed up with the airport to understand how this happened, contacted the customer directly to apologize for what he experienced, and offered travel credit and reimbursement,” the spokesperson said.
The passenger’s flight ticket to Managua was purchased for US$ 655 (Rp. 10.9 million).
Initially, according to reports Fox NewsUnited Airlines offered a US$300 travel credit as an apology for the incident, but later increased the offer to US$1,000. The revised amount was said to be due to criticism that emerged following the large costs incurred by passengers when staying overnight in Tokyo.
However, a United Airlines spokesperson also reiterated the advice given to passengers, stressing the importance of being aware of your surroundings and checking flight details.
“We always advise customers to monitor gate notice boards and boarding announcements to ensure the plane they are boarding is heading to their desired destination,” the spokesperson said.
