Hundreds Dead After Powerful Earthquake shakes Afghanistan
Jakarta – A devastating earthquake shook Afghanistan, resulting in hundreds of deaths.
detikcom reports, citing the AFP news agency, that the earthquake, with a magnitude of 6, killed 622 people in eastern Afghanistan. More than 1,000 others sustained injuries, and many homes were destroyed by the strong quake.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported the earthquake struck Sunday night at approximately 11:47 PM local time.The epicenter was located 27 kilometers northeast of Jalalabad, at a depth of 8 kilometers.

the earthquake’s impact was felt as far away as Kabul and Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
“At least 610 people were killed and 1,300 others injured in Kunar Province, with many houses destroyed,” stated Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen qani.
