Former Bima City Police Chief Faces Ethics Trial Amid Narcotics Allegations

Jakarta – Former Bima City Police Chief, AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro, is scheduled to undergo a code of ethics trial on Thursday, February 19, 2026, following allegations of involvement in a narcotics network. The National Police Headquarters has affirmed its commitment to a firm and impartial investigation, extending to all individuals implicated in the case.

Investigation and Current Status

Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, announced the upcoming hearing on Sunday, February 15, 2026 [1]. The trial will be held at the Courtroom of the Professional Accountability Bureau (Wabprof) of the National Police Propam Division, located in the TNCC Building, South Jakarta.

AKBP Didik, currently designated as a suspect, is undergoing the Special Placement (Patsus) process by the National Police Divpropam to facilitate a thorough investigation.

National Police Commitment to Internal Cleansing

The National Police Headquarters emphasized that the legal proceedings demonstrate a serious commitment to internal cleansing within the institution. Authorities have pledged to act decisively and without exception, even against its own personnel found to be compromising the integrity of the force.

“The National Police leadership has been firm and guaranteed that there is no impunity for National Police personnel involved in narcotics networks. In fact, we are implementing stricter inspection standards to maintain the dignity of the institution,” stated Inspector General Isir.

Supporting Government’s Anti-Drug Efforts

This action aligns with the government’s broader vision of eradicating drugs, considered an extraordinary crime.

Potential Penalties

Beyond potential administrative sanctions, including Dishonorable Dismissal (PTDH), AKBP Didik faces severe criminal penalties. Evidence discovered at his private residence, including methamphetamine, ecstasy, and psychotropic substances, has led to charges under Law Number 5 of 1997 concerning Psychotropic Substances and the Narcotics Law.

“The criminal threat for those concerned is life imprisonment or a maximum prison sentence of 20 years,” explained Inspector General Isir.

Expanding Investigation

This case originated with the arrest of the former Head of the Bima City Police Narcotics Unit, AKP Malaungi. A joint team from the Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) and the NTB Regional Police is actively pursuing a key suspect identified only by the initials “E,” believed to be the primary supplier in the network.

A joint team has been established to investigate the broader network, with investigations dating back to August 2025. Authorities have vowed to pursue legal and ethical action against any additional personnel found to be involved.

“If we discover any more personnel involved in supporting this illegal activity, we will process the law and code of ethics without exception. This is a form of Polri’s commitment to the war on drugs which threatens the nation’s generation,” Isir added.
