Governor Walz Orders Flags to Half-Staff in Remembrance of Sergeant First Class Nicole Amor

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Governor Tim Walz has ordered all United States and Minnesota flags to fly at half-staff at all state buildings in honor and remembrance of Sergeant First Class Nicole M. Amor of White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Amor was killed on March 1, 2026, in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, during U.S. Military operations against Iran as reported by MPR News.

A Life of Service

Sergeant First Class Amor was one of six American service members killed in the incident according to a statement from Governor Walz. She was assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) and had been serving overseas in support of U.S. Military operations. Governor Walz stated, “Sergeant First Class Amor answered the call to serve and gave her life in service to our nation. She wore our nation’s uniform with courage and selflessness, demonstrating dedication and honor throughout her life and career.” Fox 21 Online reports that her life was marked by service to others, and her memory will be treasured.

Military Career

Amor enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard in 2005 before transferring to the Army Reserve in 2006. She had previously deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in 2019, serving for more than 20 years in logistics operations supporting fellow service members as noted by KTTC.

The flags will remain at half-staff immediately until sunset on the day of Sergeant First Class Amor’s interment as outlined by halfstaff.org. Individuals, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to join in lowering their flags to honor her life and legacy.
