Suspects Arrested in Connection to Papua Plane Shooting

Indonesian authorities have arrested four members of an armed criminal group (KKB) in Yahukimo, Papua Mountains, with two suspects linked to the shooting of a Smart Air aircraft in South Papua on February 11, 2026. The incident resulted in the deaths of the pilot and co-pilot.

Investigation and Arrests

According to Kombes Yusuf Sutejo, Head of the Cartenz 2026 Peace Ops Public Relations Task Force, initial investigations suggested approximately 20 KKB members were involved in the attack on the Smart Air PK-SNR plane Antara News. Details of the Attack

Investigators are examining information from surviving passengers of the Smart Air flight.
