Inspired by Iron Dome, Turkey Now Has a $460 Million ‘Steel Dome’

Jakarta – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has lauded Turkey’s advancements in defense, celebrating the delivery of the “Steel Dome” air defense system to the military. He explained that ongoing regional conflicts pushed the Turkish government to strengthen its defenses.

“Today, we’re handing over the Steel Dome system – consisting of 47 vehicles worth $460 million (around Rp. 7 trillion) – to our military. It’ll give confidence to our friends and instill fear in our foes,” Erdogan stated at a ceremony on wednesday (August 27th) local time.This event marked a year since the project’s launch, as reported by the AFP news agency on Thursday (August 28, 2025).
