Trump Orders Military Action Against Cartels, Mexico Responds

Jakarta – Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum affirmed that “there will be no invasion of Mexico.” Sheinbaum made this statement following reports that U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the U.S. military to target drug cartels.

“There will be no invasion of Mexico,” Sheinbaum stated, according to AFP on saturday, August 9, 2025. This came after The New York Times reported that Trump secretly signed an executive order authorizing the use of military force against cartels his administration has designated as terrorist organizations.

“we have been told that this executive order will be issued shortly and does not involve the participation of military personnel or any institution in our region,” Sheinbaum said during a routine press conference.
