Bank Indonesia Extends Rupiah Exchange Order Deadline, Increases Quota for Java

Jakarta – Bank Indonesia (BI) has extended the deadline and increased the quota for rupiah currency exchange orders through the PINTAR application, specifically for the Java region. This decision comes in response to high public demand for the 2026 Semarak Rupiah Ramadan and Berkah Idulfitri (SERAMBI) program, aimed at ensuring sufficient cash circulation ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

Extended Deadline and Increased Quota

Ramdan Denny Prakoso, Head of the Communications Department at BI, announced that residents in Java can now place orders for rupiah exchange starting February 24, 2026, at 8:00 WIB, until the quota is full. Previously, the deadline for the second phase of orders was set for February 26, 2026.

For regions outside of Java, the original schedule remains in effect, with orders being accepted starting February 27, 2026, at 8:00 WIB, until the quota is exhausted.

SERAMBI 2026: Rp185.6 Trillion in Circulation

As part of the SERAMBI 2026 program, BI has prepared Rp185.6 trillion in cash to ensure adequate circulation of rupiah banknotes. Of this amount, Rp177 trillion is allocated to meet the needs of banking institutions, including ATM withdrawals and over-the-counter transactions.

Specifically for currency exchange services, BI has allocated Rp8.6 trillion, with each package containing banknotes worth Rp5.3 million. These services will be available at 2,883 locations, providing a total of 8,755 exchange points operated by BI and various banks across Indonesia.
